Moussaka

Recipe History

Moussaka is a traditional dish in Greek cuisine, with roots in the Middle East. It is a layered dish that showcases the flavors of eggplant and spiced meat, often enjoyed in Mediterranean countries.

Ingredients

  • 2 eggplants
  • 500g ground lamb
  • 1 onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 400g canned tomatoes
  • 300ml béchamel sauce
  • Olive oil

Directions

1. Slice eggplants and salt them to remove bitterness.

2. Sauté onions and garlic, then add ground lamb until browned.

3. Add canned tomatoes and simmer for 20 minutes.

4. Layer eggplants and meat sauce in a baking dish.

5. Top with béchamel sauce and bake for 30 minutes at 180°C.

6. Let it cool before serving.
